Awanui's Global Voyage with ABT-TRAC Stabilizers

Nearly two years ago, Mark and Fiona Rammell began a daring journey travelling west from Turkey and with the goal of returning home to New Zealand. As the proud owners of AWANUI NZ, the first ever Nordhavn 51, their mission was simple: slow down, see the world, and enjoy their time on the water.

Along the way, ABT-TRAC has had the chance to support them in that mission during this voyage, “My experience with ABT-TRAC has been excellent all across the board.”

Shortly after leaving the docks in Turkey, Mark had an issue with the set-up of a stabilizer, leaving only one working fin. While at sea, he was able to contact Robert, ABT-TRAC’s factory support technician in Europe, who quickly assessed the situation and connected Mark with an authorized service technician in Greece.

“Robert knew exactly what to do and talked me through everything to fix the issue over the phone so that I could safely reach Greece and get the problem solved. Even with just one fin we were perfectly stabilized,” said Mark. “From top to bottom the support from ABT-TRAC and their techs was outstanding.”

Mark was also thrilled with how the stabilizers performed throughout his voyage.

“At one point, we had very heavy seas quartering port side, without the stabilizers it would’ve been a nightmare, but they kept us steady through it.”

For Mark, the experience reinforced what makes ABT-TRAC stand out.
